Why this structure

Keep the site survey as its own line item — it's real work, and separating it avoids a customer assuming design is free. Price cameras per-unit so the total scales honestly with coverage, rather than bundling an arbitrary 'package' price.

Commonly forgotten

  • Cable containment/trunking where cameras aren't near existing conduit
  • Data/SIM cost for 4G-connected recorders with no local network
  • Council/landlord permission for external-facing cameras, where relevant

Good optional extras

  • Cloud backup (in addition to local storage)
  • 24/7 monitoring service
  • Annual maintenance visit

Terms to get right

State clearly whether the quote includes VAT, and what happens if a site survey reveals additional cable runs are needed — a common source of disputed final invoices.

FAQ

Should I quote per-camera or as one system price?

Per-camera is more transparent for the customer and easier for you to adjust if they add or remove cameras during the conversation.

Do I need to separate monitoring from installation?

Yes — monitoring is an ongoing service with a different cost structure (monthly) from installation (one-off), and mixing them makes the quote harder to compare against competitors.
